Email campaigns (marketing)

Email marketing is overused and easy to ignore, but it is a low-cost effective way to get your message out there.

  • Best use is branding/ newsletters/ quarterly round ups/ to push out a promotion to current or past loyal customers

  • Cold emails or introductions should be short and punchy

  • If you use email marketing tools, any error in punctuation will make you look like spam

  • There’s a lot of great tools to handle this function like mailchimp

  • You should learn to automate marketing sequences

  • I would use it as a second point of contact and first follow up, immediately after a cold call. For example ‘further to our conversation, please see the details for’.

  • You will need a huge volume of contacts to effectively get new customers

  • Don’t overuse it, but do include it in your strategy

  • Be aware of spam laws and getting blacklisted

  • Email is the best medium to relay a dense technically heavy message, like an architectural plan, but it is low urgency

  • Many government departments or large companies with robust procurement teams may require an Expression of Interest in an email format to even be considered
